How your daily limit is calculated

  1. Money you can spend = current balance − bills due before payday − money you want to save.
  2. Daily limit = money you can spend ÷ days until payday.
  3. Days are counted from today up to the day before payday, because payday itself is covered by your new paycheck.

Daily spending limit FAQs

How do I work out how much I can spend per day?

+

Take your current balance, subtract bills that will come out before payday and any money you want to save, then divide what’s left by the number of days until payday. For example, 900 left over 14 days gives you about 64 a day.

What counts as a bill here?

+

Anything fixed that will leave your account before payday: rent, loan or card payments, phone, internet, utilities and subscriptions that renew in that window. Groceries and fuel are not bills; they come out of your daily limit.

What if I spend more than my limit today?

+

Nothing breaks. Run the calculator again tomorrow with your new balance and fewer days: the overspend is spread over the days left, so each one gets a little less.

What if the result is negative?

+

Your bills and savings are bigger than your balance. Lower the savings amount first, then look for a bill you can move after payday. The calculator shows how much you are short.
